Never have I been more grateful about taking the next step in my massage education (getting my degree in Applied Science) than now: I just learned Trigger Point Therapy. This modality is so exacting and effective! It is so simple and yet so powerful I am astounded more people are not using it.
The idea is that small muscles or parts of muscles are in a state of constant clench. This pulls the fascia out of whack all over the place and can lead to pain, dysfunction and loss of ROM.
With trigger point therapy, the therapist finds an area that feels like it may have a trigger point by palpating the tissues. Once a suspected point is found then a small amount of steady pressure is applied. This usually is a super sore place that the client had no idea even was an issue. Then the magick happens. The area slowly starts to melt, the tissues soften and release and the pain is gone. So is the clenched feeling and the pull it was having on the entire system. AMAZING!
I hope you get to try it out. Give it a try
