Distant Reiki is just like a normal Reiki session only the recipient and the practitioner are not in the same room.
Reiki is an energy healing modality (though some recent articles in a well known publication would like you to think otherwise). The practitioner has been trained to become a pipeline for Universal Life Force to travel through and go where it needs. The practitioner does not direct the flow to any one area. It goes where it is needed.
The recipient sometimes ‘Feels’ this energy or ‘Sees’ it, or gets ‘Flashes of insight’. Other people people nothing but have an intuition about it. Still others feel like nothing happened at all.
In MY practice, I usually apply Reiki while I am also doing massage- especially for first timers- that way if they “feel nothing” then they also received a great massage.
Distant Reiki can also give the client a feeling like n’nothing happened’ so in MY practice, I have deloped a unquie process where through voice or video chat, i apply distant Reiki while ALSO taking the person on a personalized guided journey.
This can take the form of imagery to a place they love, imagery of going into the bodies muscles and tissues, imagery of the chakras or a combination of these.
The purpose of the guided journey is to bring peace, serenity, relieve stress and yes, even relax muscles. These journey CAN and DO induce a calm state with the central nervous system.
The session starts with questions about how the client is feeling, any aches, pains, soreness. How their emotions are, any stress etc. Then questions as to the type of journey- a trip to the Ocean, a Forest, the Mountains, Clouds or into the chakras or body systems- or a combination.
After I get a good feel for what the client wants, i then guide them to find a comfortable position to sir or lie down in and ask then to take a deep breath in and let it out. At various times I may have them place their hands on their heart of belly button to deep breathe, or to actively stretch areas of the body. It all depends on what is going on with each client.
At the end there is some deep breathing to come back into the body and of course, drink some water.
